Welcome to Salt Cod and Coolwhip

This Blog is established for Southwestern class of 2012 LLC "Salt Cod and Coolwhip: Adventures in American Gastronomica." Feel free to post your responses, your feelings and your comments on the blog! I'll be collecting emails and getting the list together shortly. I suggest you subscribe to the RSS feed, which I think will be running - I'll have to double check, just to see when your friends throw up new posts.

Today I was introduced to a very interesting snack by one of my hall-mates called wassabi peas. She said they were spicy, which is always a plus in my book, so I tried one. The taste was... interesting. I can't say I completely enjoyed eating it, but the taste wasn't that bad. The snack was crunchy, as peas apparently are if they are not steamed. Didn't know that either.

All in all... wassabi peas are worth a try, but I wouldn't keep them in my food pantry.

Yes, wasabi peas are an interesting food. I was just saying to a friend yesterday that they were kind of like Sweet Tarts in that you eat one, and it's surprising and good. Then you eat another and think, hmmm, maybe the next one will be better. Then you eat another, and another, and yet another in a mouth-burning attempt to revisit the pleasure of that one good tasting pea. I think this is the very experience that heroin uses describe.
