Jalapenos and Avocado

Yesterday, I had my first encounter with avocados! I know you're all super proud of me :). They were mediocre, but I assume there is more to it than just the raw avocado (as Wrangham would say I'm sure) so I expect those of you more inclined to food prep/cooking to show me the ways of the ever so healthy avocado. I had salsa and "guacamole" (it didn't look like the normal guac that I see at other Tex-Mex restaurants) and the salsa was waaaaaaay too spicy for my little white girl taste buds. The guacamole was kind of spicy too, and it was very watery. If you don't know what I'm talking about, Dos Salsas (where I had dinner last night) is just down the road.
I ordered a grilled tilapia tostada, which was definitely something new to me since whenever I go to "Mexican" restaurants I'm usually the girl who orders chicken fingers or a grilled cheese. It was pretty delicious I must admit...but then I encountered jalapeno. :/ This sent my tastebuds into a burning rage, initiated a clearing-out of my sinuses, and nearly made me cry. Needless to say, I'm a wuss, and the only spicy food that works for me is crawfish.
SOOOO in conclusion, my first encounter with legitimate tex-mex food wasn't the greatest but it wasn't too miserable, but I have been formally turned off of jalapenos. Maybe I'll just stick to speaking the language. :)
Thanks for reading, and adios, mis amigos.
